What kind of hairstyle do you want?

If you want to make a wig on your own, choose a hairstyle you like first. Let's take a look at some of the common curves that we can choose from.

Deep wave

Hair grade: virgin hair, Medium Luster, Bleach/Dye Friendly

Texture: Deep Wave hair bundles, Natural Hairline, Soft, Comb Easily, Minimal Shedding, No Tangling

Hair Material: 100% Virgin Malaysian hair, Indian hair, Brazilian hair, Peruvian hair

Deep wave hair gives off a full beautiful healthy appearance.  Deep wave hair has tighter curls than body waves, loose waves, or naturally wavy hair, but they have the same texture as top quality.

Body wave

Body wave gives a consistent "S" pattern, gives a big wave curl pattern. The body wave hair is a type of loose that looks very natural. It has the character of the straight and curly wave. The curls of body waves look more relax.

This type of hair is soft and smooth. When cared for properly, this hair type can last longer. No special maintenance is needed for the hair. Generally, body wave hair will match any clothing.

Loose wave

Loose wave hair is made of 100% real virgin hair. Loose wave hair refers to a wavier and curl. Compare to Body wave, the curl pattern of the loose wave is a little tighter and smaller. Loose extensions have a lot more volume and would look the best on someone who is on a lookout for a bouncy curl.

Of all hair types, straight hair tends to have the greatest shine but the least volume. Straight hair is one of the most popular hairstyles for women because it gives a dignified beauty and is easy to manage.

Each of the four styles has its own characteristics. Choose the one you like. Let me take a look at the tools you need to make a wig.

What do you need to make a wig?

  • Wig head (mannequin head)
  • Hair (Sew-in Extensions)
  • Wig Stand or Tape
  • Curved Needle
  • Thread
  • Hair Glue & Blow Dryer or Hot Glue gun & Sticks
  • Adjustable Dome Wig Cap
  • Lace Closure
  • Hair bundles
  • Wig Combs
  • Wig band
  • Scissors

How many bundles are in a wig?

If your wig will be short ranging between 8 to 14 inches, then you will need two bundles. However, if you want it longer in the 14 – 22-inch range, then purchase three bundles. If you want really full and thick hair, then past 20 inches I would recommend four bundles.

In general, the longer the strand, the more hair is usually needed. All raw hair will naturally be thinning towards the tip, and if you choose long hair it is recommended to use more strands to give a fuller appearance from the root to the tip. Shorter hair will require fewer strands.

The choice of lace closure and lace frontal is different and the hair bundle is different. So let's talk a little bit about what lace closure and lace frontal are.

Lace closure

Closures are usually 4 x 4 lace closure piece and can sit either directly in the middle of the crown of your head. Closures are installed in the “horseshoe” area of the head to close off the style, hence the name closure.

Lace frontal

A lace frontal is a half wig that goes from ear to ear. It is typically sewn with three to four bundles of hair. Common front lace is 13*6 lace frontal and 13*4 lace frontal. The standard size for a lace frontal is 13×4.

How to make a wig?

The preparatory work

Mount your wig head on a wig stand or set it down on a chair or table with tape. When building a wig, it's important to make sure it's stable.

Preparing the Hair

Make sure your hair is high-quality virgin hair. Hair wefts- about three bundles should suffice and you can either choose one length if you want to achieve a gradually layered look or several different lengths to keep the overall length more consistent. You can choose a lace closure or a lace frontal.

Creating the Wig

You will need to bring out your weave cap and place that on top of your mannequin head.

Position the lace frontal and fasten it to the wig cap and model.  Sew the fixed lace frontal onto the wig cap. Then draw the starting curtain on the wig cap to sew the U-shaped track. In turn, sew the hair curtain along the U apricot track onto the wig cap.

Then draw the starting curtain on the wig cap to sew the U-shaped track. In turn, sew the hair curtain along the U apricot track onto the wig cap. After the sewing is done we need to work on the hairline to create the feel of the baby hair. After a little pruning, it's done.
